Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your first visit to Kings Park Chiropractic.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No referral is needed. You can book directly online or call (02) 9837 5161. Same-day appointments are available at Kings Park Chiropractic. If your GP has referred you under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (EPC) plan, bring your plan to your first appointment — Medicare rebates apply.

What is the difference between a chiropractor and a physiotherapist?

Chiropractors and physiotherapists both treat musculoskeletal pain but use different approaches. Chiropractic care focuses on spinal adjustment, joint mobility, and nervous system function. Physiotherapy typically emphasises exercise rehabilitation and movement retraining.

Is chiropractic treatment safe?

Yes. A 2024 systematic review published in Pain Physician (Pankrath et al.) analysed randomised controlled trials on spinal manipulation and found all reported adverse events were mild — none were serious. All chiropractors in Australia must be registered with AHPRA and meet national education standards.

Is chiropractic evidence-based?

Yes. A 2024 review of international clinical practice guidelines found spinal manipulation was recommended for low back pain in 90% of guidelines reviewed, and for neck pain in 100%. In 2022, the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care published its Low Back Pain Clinical Care Standard recognising manual therapy as part of evidence-based care.
