What Happens at Your First Visit
Your first appointment at Kings Park Chiropractic is a consultation and assessment — not just a treatment. Dr. Brian Sin takes the time to understand your history, find the cause of your problem, and explain what he finds before anything happens. Nothing is rushed, and no treatment begins without your understanding and consent.
How long does the first appointment take?
Your first visit is approximately 30 minutes. Dr. Brian takes time to take a thorough health history, perform a physical and postural assessment, review any relevant scans or reports you bring, and explain his findings to you clearly.
Return appointments are typically 15 minutes.
What does Dr. Brian assess at the first visit?
Dr. Brian conducts a thorough consultation that includes a detailed health history — covering your current complaint, how and when it started, what makes it better or worse, your general health, medications, and any relevant past injuries or surgeries.
He then performs a physical examination, which typically includes postural analysis, spinal range-of-motion testing, orthopaedic and neurological tests, and hands-on palpation of the spine and surrounding muscles. For some presentations, he may request X-rays before proceeding with treatment.
What should I bring to my first chiropractic appointment?
Bring any relevant imaging you already have — X-rays, MRI or CT reports, specialist letters, or GP referrals (if you have one under a Medicare CDM/EPC plan). Also bring a list of any current medications or supplements.
Wear or bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. For neck or back assessments it helps to be able to move freely, and for lower back or hip issues Dr. Brian may need to assess your gait.
Will I receive treatment on my first visit?
In most cases, yes. If Dr. Brian’s assessment indicates it is safe and appropriate to begin treatment at the first visit, he will do so — with your informed consent. He will explain exactly what he intends to do and why before he begins.
Occasionally, if X-rays are needed first or if your presentation requires more information before treatment is appropriate, Dr. Brian will defer hands-on treatment to your second appointment. He will always explain his reasoning clearly.
What happens at the end of the first visit?
Dr. Brian will summarise his findings, give you a diagnosis or working diagnosis, and outline a recommended care plan — including how many visits he expects you’ll need and how often. You are under no obligation to commit to a full plan at the first visit.
He will also give you advice on what to do (and what to avoid) in the 24–48 hours after your first treatment, and answer any questions you have before you leave.
First Visit FAQ
Do I need a referral for my first chiropractic appointment?
No. You can book directly without a referral. If your GP has provided a Medicare CDM (EPC) referral, bring it along for a Medicare rebate on up to 5 visits per year. HICAPS is available on-site for immediate private health fund claims.
Is parking available at the clinic?
Yes, free on-site parking is available at 36 Donohue Street, Kings Park NSW 2148. The clinic is easily accessible from Blacktown, Doonside, Quakers Hill, and the surrounding suburbs.
What if I am nervous about my first chiropractic visit?
It is completely normal to feel unsure before your first appointment. Dr. Brian takes time to explain every step of the assessment and will not begin any treatment without your consent. If at any point you are uncomfortable, just say so — the appointment moves at your pace.
Can I bring someone with me to my first appointment?
Yes, you are welcome to bring a support person. For children and paediatric patients, a parent or guardian must be present throughout the entire consultation and any treatment.
